Obituary for Sheldon Alfred Mills

Mills; Sheldon Alfred

After a lengthy struggle, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Grey Gables Nursing Home, formerly of Priceville just shy of his 93rd birthday. He is reunited with his beloved wife(honey) who passed suddenly only 7 months ago. Loving father of Allan of Desboro, Linda(Keith) Banks of Warburg, AB, Roy(Darla Burch) of Devon, AB, Shirley Hendrickson(Murray Schmidt) of RR4 Walkerton, Donna(Gary) Taylor of Whitby, Larry(Arlene) of BC, Nancy(Mike) Hogenes of New Lowell, Rosemary(Bill) King of Warburg, AB and the late Kenneth and Richard. Loved and remembered by 26 grandchildren and many great and great great grandchildren. Greatly missed by sister-in-law Marie Mills. Predeceased by brother Otto and his wife Pear, Elsmere and sisters Arletta and her husband Clarence Hill and Shirley Mills.

Sheldon was born on February 20, 1926 in Euphrasia Township to Thomas and Edythe Mills. He attended school in Bognor, Ontario before heading to Toronto to attend school for Welding. He met and married the love of his life, June Sherwood, and were together for 61 years until her death in July of 2018. They raised 10 children together at their home in Priceville where Sheldon had his welding shop. He loved time with the family, his vegetable garden, his plants, and social time. He spent many days tinkering around in his shop, cutting wood for his wood stove and finding little jobs here and there. He and June enjoyed many years, neighbours and friends in Priceville before retiring to Markdale. Sadly Sheldon’s last years of life were plagued with the onset of Dementia, but his face would still light up when his family would visit. The family can’t find words to express their appreciation to all of the staff on “Maple Lane” at Grey Gables, including Dr. Power, for all of your care.

The family will receive friends at the Fawcett Funeral Cremation Reception, Flesherton on Monday, February 11 from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00pm. Funeral service from the funeral home chapel on Tuesday at 11:00am. Sheldon will be laid to rest at a spring interment at McNeil Cemetery with his honey and two sons. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Alzheimer Society or to Grey Gables Activity Fund would be gratefully appreciated.
