Obituary

Wakeham; “Mike” Michael Phillip

Suddenly at Rockwood Terrace, Durham on April 4, 2019 formerly of Brampton in his 74 year. Beloved husband of 36 years to Linda(nee Dickie). Loving father of Andrew(Candice) of Flesherton and Mike Jr.(Misha) of Pemberton, BC. Loved and remembered by grandchildren Drew, Jayden and Marcus. Mike is survived by 3 brother and a sister in England and predeceased by his twin brother Martin, his parents George and Joyce Wakeham and brothers in-law Owen(Tiny) and Russ Dickie. Dear son in-law to Launa and the late Thomas Dickie. Brother in-law of Marg Elliot, Milly(Don) McCoy, Wendy(Derrick) Kittchen, Dora(Robbie) Rogers, Bob(Chris) Dickie and Tom(Peggy) Dickie. He will be greatly missed by Mike and Betty Gariepy and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Mike was born March 21, 1946 in England to George and Joyce Wakeham. In 1967 he came to Canada to work with an uncle and enjoyed it so much he moved here a year later. He then met and married the love of his life Linda Dickie and they raised their two boys together in Brampton. Mike drove cab for many cab companies until he retired in 2012. This brought them to many moves enjoying family until they settled in Grey County. He had a great passion for golf, horse races and darts. Shortly after retirement, Mike suffered a stroke and lost some mobility but continued to enjoy his sports on TV, reading the paper and of course nothing could slow him on his gift of the gab!

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at a later date this year. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be gratefully appreciated. Online donations and condolences at www.fawcettfuneralhome.ca

Mike, you'll be sorely missed at the family gatherings. You wore your strong love of family on your sleeve.
While we may not have always agreed with you, your shared opinions on anything and everything were always brutally honest and often, well... interesting. TSN will be on all weekend in your honour and we'll be saving a seat for you at the track.

Linda love .. a huge gap opens in your life when your love and soul-mate leaves this Earth. Fill the time without Mike with laughter, if you can ... he was one of our nuttiest nuts on the family tree ..? I was his sister "moose" and he was Mom's " favourite son-in-law". I will miss him for his crazy driving style and the crazy arguments we used to have when I visited you guys. RIP Mike. I love you Linda and send strength and hope for comfort aross the miles.
