I have so many beloved memories of San and the majority of these memories are quickly followed with a chuckle and an "Oh, San". This one is a definite "Oh, San!" memory: I was eighteen and in my first year at college, I had recently moved to Montreal and had gone out with friends and over indulged one evening. I have zero idea what time it was but I was already in bed, the world spinning, when my phone rang. I looked at the caller ID and the call was from my Dad, I answered the phone worried that I would have to explain that I was drunk and not feeling well at all, and why on earth were my parents calling me in the middle of the night?! BUT, when I answered I was greeted with bongos, didgeridoos and shouting "Is that Kaileigh?! Mark, give me the phone!". According to my mother, after several bottles of wine my Dad and San decided that they should call me to see how Montreal was and to tell me they missed me. I was put on speaker-phone and San sang out "Kaileigh, honey, how are you?! We miss you! How is Montreal? Are you having fun?". I said that I had had a little too much fun that night and that I was trying to make the world stop spinning. They snickered and poked fun at me for a while longer while "playing" their instruments and then eventually hung up... or I hung up on them? I do not remember. At the time, being woken up by bongos when I was already feeling hungover was A LOT and not at all funny to my spinning, about to be sick, head. But I woke up the next day with a headache and a hilarious memory that I had to clarify had even happened with my Mother. "Surely San and Dad didn't call me in the middle of the night last night?" Yes, of course they did. I cherish this memory and tell it often. My fun, silly, and loving (chosen) Aunt San.

John & George I'm so sad to learn of Sandra's sudden passing.

Marlies, myself and our families' prayers be with George & John and your immediate families.

We have all wondered what caused this sudden loss. If you care to share with me, please reply. If you'd rather not, I understand.

All our best John as you grieve and cherish Sandra with George and his family & all the memories in this sad time in life.

Stay well.

We're so sad to hear of Sandra's passing, especially when we've been stuck away from Canada. We'll always remember her warmth and love, how she was such a caring friend. Sandra came to Cambodia to visit us once with George, Dilly and Ellie - it may have been the shortest holiday in Southeast Asia ever, but it was emblematic of who Sandra was. Who else would fly all the way to the other side of the world with her kids to have fun with her friends, then turn around and go home after 3 days when she heard her mother was ill? We regretted the lost vacation but knew we would do it again one day. It's difficult to know that we now won't get the chance, but we will carry Sandra in our heart with us when next we go to the Buddhist Temples and will make some devotion and prayers in honour of and to lift her spirit for the next life. She will be missed and we are deeply sad that we'll not laugh with her again.
