Obituary

Evelyn Phillips
After a blessed life of 91 years, Evelyn, formerly of Flesherton, passed on Friday, November 27, in Toronto. Beloved wife of the late Robert (2007). Loving mother of George (Kathryn Reid) of Thornbury, Carol (Ian Cook) of Midhurst, and the late Robert (2014). Evelyn will be loved and remembered by her grandchildren Jed, Clara, Ben, Curtis, Adrian, Jeremy, Ryan (Olena), and great grandson Nicholas. She is predeceased by siblings Ted McTavish and Jean Pallett. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews.

Evelyn lived a full life, sharing happy times between her homes in Flesherton, Etobicoke, and Naples. She was the consummate homemaker, creating in her home of 60 years a feeling of warmth, welcome, and love. We have all been touched by her caring nature, which has kept our families close. Her legacy is her enduring love of family.
Evelyn will be interred at a private service. Funeral date soon to follow at www.fawcettfuneralhome.ca. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario and Parkinsons Society Canada.

We are all missing our Auntie Evelyn. She was "the best sister" , according to my mother Margaret Fulmer, her sister in law who had two brothers including our beloved Uncle Bob. During our summer visits to Toronto and the cottage at Eugenia we have only wonderful memories of playing on the beach, snowmobiling, catching frogs, and most of all playing all day with our cousins. Always Auntie Evelyn was quietly and lovingly present keeping the chaos under control . She was as welcoming as my own mom when I had solo visits with my grandmother. And she always appeared to me so poised and elegant, which she indeed was. We send love to all from the American branch of the family. Margaret, Betsy, Diedre, and Alison

George and Carol, my sincerest condolences to you on your mom’s passing. I remember with great fondness the many years our families spent as neighbours at the cottage on Lake Eugenia. Evelyn was a lovely, thoughtful woman and the last of the originals on Island View Drive. Kathy (McKeracher) Sinclair

Kathy, so sweet of you to send your condolences. I’m glad you added your maiden name! We also have fond memories of our time at the lake. The McKeracher’s were a big part of those times.

On behalf of Margaret and our families, please accept our sincere sympathy at this time. We have so many good memories of your Mom and Dad as well as the whole family. Carol was Dad's girl as he loved it when she would head back to the bush for a walk. Our kids grew up with George's cattle on the farm. Amanda loved the black cows. And I remember way back when we took swimming lessons at the Flesherton Pond with Robert. Dad enjoyed keeping an eye on the property and I remember Bob and he driving back and forth on their lawn mowers and four wheelers. One of my most cherished memories was at Carol's wedding when I was able to look at our farm from your backyard. It wasn't a view I often had. Your mom was always a special lady in many ways. I know she will be missed by all who knew here. Barb and Graham Henry, Margaret Turner and Chris Pickard

I love to hear those memories, Barb. Those really were the good, old days. I loved your family too. They were always so welcoming to me. Our parents were good neighbours to each other. I’ve come to realize what a blessing it is to have good neighbours. Thank you for taking the time to write.
