Obituary for Robert James Frederick Hawkins

Hawkins; Robert James Frederick
After a short illness, peacefully at South Bruce Grey Health, Durham on Friday, June 4, 2021, of Flesherton in his 68th year. Beloved husband of Cheryle of Flesherton. Loving step-father of Deidre(David) Thomson of London and father of Joseph(Gunnhildur) of Flesherton, William(Brenda) of Lucan, Nathan of Flesherton, Cameron of Flesherton and Whitney(Raymond Gordon) of Markdale. Robert will be missed by his “adopted” son Dave (Amanda) Forrest of Puslinch. He is loved and remembered by his grandchildren Charlotte, Thomas, Cody, Patrick and Hannah. Brother of William(Viola) of Flesherton and Ken(Grietje) of Teeswater. Survived by Great Aunt Mary Edwards of Brampton as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Predeceased by parents Margaret and Joseph.
Robert was known in the community as a kind, humble, hardworking man who loved his family, especially his grandkids. He was so proud of Charlotte and loved going to Lucan to garage sale each year with her to find “treasures”. Thomas was his sidekick and learned about the family farm from his Grandpa. Robert also loved to travel, having had the chance to go to China, Honduras and Costa Rica among many other places with his family. He enjoyed his time going to auctions – always keeping an eye out for a nice tractor, truck or any other good deal.
At Robert’s request, cremation has taken place. A come and go tea will take place at the Hawkins Family Farm (426268 Concession 8, Flesherton) on June 27, 2021 from 1-3pm. Please be prepared to wear a mask and follow COVID-19 protocols. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Georgian Triangle Humane Society would be greatly appreciated.
