After a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease, passed at Grey Gables Nursing Home on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at the age of 74. Beloved of husband of 29 years to Janet(nee Stainsby). Loving step-father of Paula Vanthournout(Ian Baird) of Windsor and Jon-Paul McArthur(Trish Knapp) of Markdale. Cherished Papa of Samantha and Justin Vanthournout, Ashley and Garrett McArthur. Dear brother of David of Ottawa, John(Kim) of New Brunswick and Sharon(Maurice) Bisson of Quebec. He will be missed by his father in-law Louis Driessen of Durham and sister-in-law Louise Driessen of Port Elgin.
Eric was born in Parrsboro, Nova Scotia on August 13, 1947 to Denzel and Muriel McLellan. The family moved to Rexdale, Ontario when Eric was young and he remained there until after high school graduation. At which time, the police academy was calling and Eric answered. He graduated in the late 60s from the Police Academy in Aylmer and dedicated the next 35 years of his life to the Ontario Provincial Police. He started his career in Kitchener before he was moved to Markdale and also spent six years of service in Killarney, but he loved the Markdale area and decided to make it his home. It was here he met and married the love of his life Janet and they shared their life together until his death. Eric's life was cut short when he was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease over 10 years ago. He did his best to fight against it and will be remembered for his strength.
