Obituary for Joanne Mildred Timmins (Seeley)
Joanne Mildred Seeley Timmins was the youngest child of Selby and Mildred Seeley. She had 2 brothers, Dennis(Gail) and the late Jim.
She attended King Edward Public School in Dundalk and Grey Highlands Secondary School in Flesherton. While at both, Joanne forged many lifelong friendships including meeting the future love of her life and husband the late William "Bill" Charles Timmins of Glenelg. After high school, Joanne trained as an RNA at Sick Children’s Hospital in Toronto. After a few years, she returned to her home area of Owen Sound.
Joanne and Bill started to date and were married in 1974. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters Erin Jessica Ward(Tom Porter) and Jenna Lynn Timmins. A daughter Diana Joanne was stillborn. Their lives were further enriched with the arrival of their first granddaughter, Cassidy Rose, followed by their two grandsons, Jack Richard and Bennet "Ben" William. She is cherished by sisters in-law Linda Seeley, Evelyn Bowler and Ruby McCracken. Predeceased by sister in-law Gerri Seeley and brother in-law Dennis McCracken. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
Joanne worked at Grey Bruce Health Services part-time and full time for 40+ years. Initially, she was an RNA however, she finished her career as a Ward Clerk. During this time as well, and in spite of her severe arthritis, Joanne spent time cleaning houses and selling Avon part-time. Joanne has always been known for her work ethic and playful antics-- to which hospital staff specifically would jokingly remark, "I want some of what you're on!"
Joanne has always been a prominent public figure, starting as a child in girl guides, high school as cheerleader, and continuing on into her adult life at the hospital and on committees and boards. Including the Board for the Glenelg Town Hall and Community Centre, and in many capacities at her church, which was very important to her. Joanne also was a very active parent, participating in band competition national field trips, and fundraising events for both girls throughout their high school years. Joanne and Bill both also had a love of square dancing and calling (dances). This started for Joanne in public school under the tutelage of her father Selby, and continued throughout her married life. As adults Bill and Joanne were both very proud members of The Priceville Country Pride. Joanne has also always had a green thumb and she loved her gardens. She could be known to spend hours tending, sitting, and even talking to her many plants and flowers. This type of ritual she found therapeutic for her soul and any others', as over the years she has been known to even teach neighbourhood kids about the love plants and gardening! Joanne lost her beloved husband after a lengthy illness, in November 2021 at Grey Bruce Health Services. However, Joanne has been very fortunate in recent years to become a part of a friendship group and prayer group, both of whom were very dear to her and close friendships were developed.
Joanne's bright smile, infectious spirit, and childlike joy will certainly be in the hearts of all those that truly knew her forever.

The family will receive friends at Fawcett Funeral Cremation Reception, Flesherton on Friday, September 16 from 6:00-9:00pm. Funeral Service will take place on Saturday at Annesley United Church, Markdale at 11:00am. Cremation has taken place and Joanne will be laid to rest with her husband Bill at the Zion-Glenelg Community Cemetery in Glenelg Cemetery.
