After a courageous battle, surrounded by his family, Gerald went to his Lord and Saviour on Saturday, December 24, 2022 at Queensway Carleton Hospital in Ottawa at the age of 66. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (nee Adair) for 42 years. Loving father of Crystal(David) Ruppel of Markdale and Esther(Michael) Jacobs of Carleton Place. Cherished grandfather of Rebecca, Violet and Azalea. Dear brother of Ellen(Rick) Sherrard of Mount Forest, sister in-law Fern(Jim) Van Herk of Brunner and brother in-law Marshall Smith. Predeceased by his parents Gordon and Isabel Carefoot, brother Donald Carefoot and sister Minerva Smith. He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews.
Gerald was born on June 14, 1956 at Markdale Hospital. At the age of 2 his family moved to the Carefoot farm on Highway 10. He graduated from Grey Highlands Secondary School and has since farmed full time. Gerald’s greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren. He enjoyed woodworking, baking and playing card and board games. He was deeply committed to his local church, Rock Mills Fellowship Baptist Church. His presence will be greatly missed by his church family and numerous friends and neighbours.
The family will receive friends at the Fawcett Funeral Cremation Reception, Flesherton on Friday, December 30 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00pm. Funeral service from Rock Mills Baptist Church on Saturday December 31st at 1:00pm. Spring interment Markdale Cemetery.
