Obituary for John Rill
John Rill (November 1, 1932 – February 2, 2023)
It is with great sorrow that the family announces that John Rill passed away peacefully with his wife, Roberta by his side in his 91st year at Grey Gables in Markdale on February 2, 2023. He will be missed by the love of his life, his wife of of 60 years, Roberta Rill (nee MacCannell) . Father of Dan, Dave, and Doug (Janet-Lee) Rill. Grandfather of Danielle (Dan), Katelyn Rill, Sky Rill(Wyatt) and Kenny Linton (Vanessa) and the late Steven Rill. Great Grandfather of Savannah, Bria and Lealah. Predeceased by parents Peter and Katherine Rill.
John first started working at Moore’s Garage, then Co-Op. After that position, John opened his own shop in Proton Station called Rill’s Autobody. He had a passion for steam engines, which lead him to making his own steam boat and car. He enjoyed boating out on Lake Eugenia and Blue water lakes with Roberta and his family and friends.
Cremation has taken place with a spring interment at Evergreen Cemetery. Check the Funeral Home Website for the date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Grey Gables Activity Fund would be greatly appreciated. Online donations and condolences at www.fawcettfuneralhome.ca 888-924-2810.
