Passed peacefully at The Village Seniors Community in Hanover, formerly of Flesherton on Friday, March 3, 2023.
Beloved wife of the late Kenneth Charles (2020). Loving mother of Richard (Gina) (the late Gloria) of Newfoundland, Marnie (the late Robert) of Alliston, Kenneth (Susan) of Lackawanna NY, and Michele (Henry) Romp of Leamington. Cherished grandmother to Rebecca (Jack), Katherine, Nathan, Alesha, Hayley, Joshua, Kenny and Eddie. Great grandmother of two. Predeceased by her brothers Angus and Robert Turney, and her sisters Margaret Turney and Ruth Fraser. Survived by her sister-in-law Irene Turney of Gravenhurst. Well loved by many Nephews and Nieces.
Joan started her 38 year career as a teacher at the young age of 17. She shared her love of education and especially science with many children over the years. She loved the outdoors, spending time walking, hiking, skiing and swimming. Joan was passionate about physical fitness, playing hockey and baseball in her youth and participating in various activities over the years including clogging and yoga. Joan had a very deep love of nature, embracing each season with excitement. She was a long time member of the United Church, where she was also a member of the choir and “Keeper of the Key”.
A celebration of Ken and Joan's lives will take place at Fawcett Funeral Cremation Reception, 1 Highland Drive, Flesherton on Saturday, April 22, 2023, from 1:00-4:00pm with memories shared at 2:30. Online condolences and donations are available at www.fawcettfuneralhome.ca
