He will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends.

Walter was a 3rd generation farmer in Proton Station, on the family farm, beginning his lifelong career at the age of fourteen. Working tirelessly in the barn and in the fields looking forward to the demands that came with each season change. Bonding naturally with all animals, he cared for them with pride, whether it be the family dog, the newly born calf or other livestock. Walter and his wife, Lois, where never apart and their partnership led to success on the farm. Each seeding, haying and harvest they fell into their usual routine. Lois worked in the kitchen in the morning preparing meals while Walter maintained the equipment and tended to the animals. Mid morning, they would pull out of the yard, each on their own tractor and head to the field. They made a fierce team! Family was of utmost importance to Walter. Raising two daughters on the farm with Lois. Teaching important life lessons, celebrating special events and important milestones with both the immediate and extended family and delicious home cooked food. In 2005, Walter retired from farming at the age of 69. Walter and Lois built a custom home on one of their pieces of property. This extra time allowed Walter to catch more Leaf and Jays games, but this wasn’t enough to satisfy the farming itch that lived inside him. To remedy this, he bought a few implements and did custom work. Vegetable gardening, feeding the birds, maintaining the property, gardening, looking after the pets and spending time with family became the new routine of life off the farm.

The family will receive friends at Fawcett Funeral Cremation Reception, Flesherton on Tuesday, April 4 from 3:00-5:00pm. Funeral service from the funeral home chapel on Wednesday at 1:00 pm.
