Obituary for Patricia Ash

Patricia Ash, born on December 13, 1944, in Ottawa, Ontario, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2023, at the age of 78. She was surrounded by her loved ones, including her stepdaughter, at Grey Gables Nursing Home in Markdale.

Patricia was a beloved wife, mother, stepmother, friend, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was preceeded in death by her parents, Morgan and Lillian Park, and her husband, Curtis Ash, who passed away in 2015. She is survived by her two sons, Raymond Ash of Richmond Hill and Jeremy Ash of Mississauga, as well as her stepdaughter, Pamela (Wayne) Ellis of Markdale. Patricia will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Pat graduated from Kingston General Hospital in 1966 and worked briefly as a nurse in Toronto. She then worked at Lakeshore Hospital with children facing challenges, where she met Curtis. Pat held various roles, including educational assistant and nursing at Credit Valley Hospital, and retired from the University of Toronto health care centre (Mississauga campus).

Patricia had several hobbies that brought her joy, including gardening, long walks with her dog Callie, and hosting dinner parties with her husband Curtis. She was also a skilled Canasta player who loved traveling and going to live theatre performances.

Above all, Patricia cherished spending time with her grandchildren. She was a kind and loving grandmother to Ethan Ash, Dajanae Ellis, Rajanae Ellis, William Ellis, and Amanda Ellis. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Anastasia, Mya-Simone, Kylan, Sebastian, Sora, and Maddin.

Patricia's cremation was arranged through Fawcett Funeral Home. A service to celebrate her life will take place at Cooke's Presbyterian Church in Markdale on May 20, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Society, The Hospital for Sick Children, Diabetes Canada or the Heart & Stroke Foundation. May Patricia rest in peace, and may her memory be a source of comfort to all those who knew and loved her.
