Parker; Shirley Mae
Passed away at her home in Markdale on Saturday, August 19th 2023 in her 89th year. Beloved wife of the late Harold for over 69 years. Loving mother of David (Diane Morrison) of Salem, Susan of Markdale, Kevin (Carolyn) of Feversham, Donna (Kevin) Shanahan of Dunsford, and Brian of Chatsworth. Much loved grandmother of Kurt (Anna), Kyle (Corinne), Cole, Bradley (Paige), Tara (Jason), Monica (Jordan), Matthew (Kaehly), Michelle, Caitlin and Jade. Great Grandmother of Audrina, Triton, Kendall, James, Thomas, Declan, Paisley, River, Damien and Knox. Shirley is predeceased by parents William and Flora and her siblings. She is fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews and extended family.
Shirley was born and raised in rural Singhampton. She married the love of her life Harold Parker in June of 1952. Harold and Shirley lived on a hobby farm near Feversham for approximately 20 years. Shirley was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Grandma and Great Grandma. Shirley was a woman of many talents. From quilting, crocheting and knitting to baking, preserving and gardening - she was a master of it all. You would find many of her works of art with a first prize sticker at the local fall fairs.
She started her working career in tobacco fields in Simcoe County, later to work in the Feversham Nursing Home, Daal’s of Collingwood and Trim Trends in Dundalk. She prided herself in her work. Shirley rarely had idle hands.
Her family greatly grieves her loss, but they take comfort in knowing that Harold and Shirley are together again.
The family will receive friends at Fawcett Funeral Cremation Reception (1 Highland Drive, Flesherton) on Thursday, August 24, 2023 from 10 am until the time of the service at 12 pm. Memorial contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
