Freeman; Eleanor Joan (nee Sparks)

Peacefully, with her family by her side, Eleanor passed at Malton Village Long Term Care, Mississauga on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 in her 90th year. She is reunited with her beloved husband Douglas (2014). Loving mother of Leslie Freeman (Tim Mallory) of Scarborough, Lorri (Peter) Zagar of Caledon, Kevin Freeman of Whistler, BC and the late Jennifer. Proud grandmother of Myles (Emily), Aidan and Ellen (Zach). Dear sister of Muriel (the late John) Phillips of Orangeville, Judy (Doug) Galloway of Kimberly and the late Lois and Ivan Hills. She will be greatly missed by her extended family and many friends in Brampton and Eugenia (Blue Mountain Maples).

Eleanor lived a very full life. Whether during her career as a teacher, her time as a baseball coach or just being with friends for a beer by the lake, she brought her sense of humour and heart of gold to all she did.

A private family service will take place on Saturday, June 19 at 1:00pm. Greetings to the Freeman Family.
Hard to believe it has been 7 years since I last saw you all. The occasion was the celebration of Doug's life, an afternoon of smiles and laughs and very good speeches I recall. So sad that with the recent passing of your Mom we could not celebrated her life in the same way- at least not yet. Such has been the reality of death for families all around the world which hopefully becomes a thing of the past very soon. I am certain that there are many great stories being shared from your Mom's friends, children and grandchildren. Together with Doug, Eleanor was part of a dynamic parenting duo on Guest Street for many years with a home that never lacked for fun or activity. I remember the pool parties in our teenage years and wonder if anybody other than the Fitzhenry's and Freeman's hosted boozy get-togethers for the 1959 cohort. To say that our parents were lenient and trusting of us and our friends in those days is a true understatement. Wishing everyone all the best as life goes on. Please know that our thoughts have been with you since seeing Eleanor's obituary in the Star.

To Kev, Lorri, Leslie and family.
I have so many great memories of your Mom and Dad. Being at the “cottage” most weekends as a teenager, there was usually an adventure of some sort! Your folks always welcomed all of us- and often there were a few. Eleanor would say “the more the merrier.” She and I had many great chats and I can still her her voice in my head joking and laughing. After getting married and having our first daughter, Eleanor loved it when we came up and brought the baby to visit. I will always have fond memories of the times on Lake Eugenia at “Doug and Eleanor’s” and will miss them both. Rest well Eleanor- Cheers.
